The following awards were presented during the Leadership Dinner at the 2023 OTA Annual Meeting:
OTA Lifetime Achievement Award
Michael J. Bosse, MD; Ellen J. MacKenzie, PhD
The Lifetime Achievement Award honors an OTA member who has dedicated their career to orthopaedic trauma and whose overall contributions to the profession have made outstanding, long-lasting and impactful improvements to orthopaedic trauma education and research, and patient care.
DEI and Health Disparities Research and Leadership Award
Damayea Hargett, MD
Awarded to an individual who has made substantial contributions to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and addressing health disparities in the field of orthopaedic trauma through participation and excellence in research and education, and outstanding leadership and mentorship.
Mentorship Award
Yelena Bogdan, MD
Awarded to an individual who has contributed to the clinical, academic and professional growth of OTA member(s) via mentorship.
Community Surgeon Achievement Award
Rafael Neiman, MD
Awarded to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding community orthopaedic contributions, dedicated his/her professional life to excellence in research and education at all community levels, and possess personal qualities of integrity, compassion and leadership in orthopaedic trauma.
Additionally, Roy Sanders, MD was acknowledged for his outstanding leadership as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma.
