As you may know, OTA International supports the work of OTA committees through publication of committee-written manuscripts. As an open access journal, publication in OTAI incurs a production fee. In the past, the process for supporting committee manuscripts has largely been handled ad hoc, based on interest and budget availability. At times, committees have proposed manuscripts, but publication has been delayed due to annual budget limits.
With that in mind, we have requested and the Board has approved specific funding for up to 6 committee-written manuscripts for 2024. At the same time, we are formalizing the submission process, so that any committees that would like to develop manuscripts for publication in OTAI should submit a written abstract no later than Jan. 31, 2024. Members of the Publications Committee will review the proposals and respond by mid-February.
We encourage all OTA committees to consider adding a manuscript development discussion item to their agendas during the upcoming fall meetings in Seattle.
Please note that manuscripts MUST be completed and accepted for publication no later than July 31, 2024. Any manuscripts received after that point will return to the pool and be considered as part of the application process for publication in 2025. Acceptance of the initial abstract does not guarantee acceptance for publication.
